Blog Tag: 5 Things You May Not Know About Me

Last week when I was in New York, Jax tagged my blog. I wasn’t really in the blogger-state-of-mind at the time. I was more concerned with the pending snow storm and the fact that I was going to get a snow day in NY, and have to spend it in a little, crappy Upper West Side Hotel room.

Anyways, I read her post with the rules.

  1. I blog a list of five things that you might not know about me.
  2. Then, I tag (or identify by blog or email) five other bloggers to tell five things we don't know about them on their own blogs.
  3. Then those five bloggers tag five other bloggers, and so on, and so on, and so on, just like that FabergĂ© Organics shampoo commercial. (really I don’t know what she is talking about here).

So here are my 5 things:

  1. I was named after Morgan le Fay. My dad originally wanted to name me Mary. And in my family the first boy of the first boy is names John so my bother’s name is John Joshua. My mom refused to have kids names Mary and John (a little too religious for a not-so-religious woman). But, Mom did give in and have me baptized. So even though I haven’t been to church in an extremely long time I am Catholic and I was almost named after the virgin herself.
  2. Many do know this, but not everyone. My goal in life is to be an elected public servant for the (great) state of Minnesota. I plan to run for Mayor and Governor in the next 15-20 years.
  3. I hate recreational-educational reading. I read so much every day that is jam-packed with information. When I am home and reading for fun, I go out of my way to read trashy novels or “chick lit” as they call it. I love it. Ian has tried many times to give me good literature, classic reads and I just can’t bring myself to stay with it. Poor guy.
  4. I think that Malibu’s Most Wanted is one of the greatest movies ever. Not the top by any means, I would never go that far, but I absolutely love this movie. It is hysterical, but it is full of bad jokes and pop culture. So Mom, don’t Netflix it.
  5. And finally, I love “bad” music. I love post-1980 country music. I love John Denver, Neil Diamond, Kenny Loggins, James Taylor and Steve Goodman. I have seen STYX and REO Speedwagon on eight separate occasions. I seem to have gotten this from my parents – as my brother also has the same affliction. But, I love it. I turn it up as loud as possible and sing at the top of my lungs. So might argue that this is line up is not "bad," but I have been told on countless times by people I trust that it is amazing my iPod has not blown up due to the crap I put on it.

So there are my five. I am not going to do what Jax did and declare my five blogs that I am tagging. Instead I am going to “next blog” and tag the next five I come across.

And finally, here is the pic to make this a phlog: Morgan le Fay

Thanks Clay, I love Steve Goodman (got it from my folks) and my brother is a big fan too. My favorite song is "This hotel room" or Magic Fingers as I called it when I was 5.

We own a few Steve Goodman CD's, and may have imprinted the songs on our kids' brains, too.

Morgan le Fey [or Morgan, Morgana, Morgaine] has always fascinated me as a character in books like Mists of Avalon. We saw Excalibur at the theater when it was new, Liam Neeson was unknown, and a fascinating young actress named Helen Mirren played Morgana. You have an extremely cool name! And it would look good on the door of the governor's office in Minnesota.
